Our offices at 8334 Cross Park, in Central East Austin, house a
20-bed clinical trials unit devoted to phase I-IV inpatient protocols.
The facility is convenient to the Austin-Bergstrom International
Airport off Highway 183 as well as to the new Texas 130 toll-road
system. Brackenridge Hospital, a general hospital, is within 5 miles.
We have installed an extensive solar power system that provides us with supplemental and back-up power
Our clinical staff of RNs, LVNs, Psych Techs, Lab Techs, and a patient
liaison work as a team with our study coordinators both to ensure
the highest quality work and to create an inviting, safe research
environment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) staff is always
on duty.
The unit is equipped with tabletop and refrigerated centrifuges
as well as a –70 degree scientific freezer. The site has a
full crash cart and defibrillator. Phlebotomy and Study Coordinator
staff has completed FAA required hazardous material training.
While the safety of all study participants is our primary concern,
a licensed social worker leads a community group and plans daily
activities for study participants to make their stay as enjoyable
and interesting as possible. Patient rooms come with cable television.
Three vans for patient transport and a full-time driver facilitate
compliance with outpatient follow-up visits.
