Experience Working with Psychiatric Patients:
I earned my B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin
in 1989, and my M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science
Center in San Antonio in 1993. I have approximately 15 years of
experience as a physician working with people who have psychiatric
and neurological based illnesses. I have worked in a variety of
different settings including the Austin State Hospital, Seton Shoal
Creek Hospital, and the University of Texas at Austin's Student
Health Center. Immediately after my residency training, I worked
at Austin Travis County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center
for approximately 5 years, and then for Bluebonnet Trails MHMR serving
patients in Williamson and Bastrop County. I have worked as a consultant
with Texas Rehabilitation Center evaluating people applying for
disability benefits, and I have served as a staff psychiatrist for
the Federal Correctional Institute in Bastrop.
Most recently, I have worked in my own private practice for the
last six years, as well as working with Community Clinical Research
as a sub-investigator for the last three years.
